Rishi Sunak has insulted the memory of my forebears.I will never forgive him

I don't usually write anything political here in the WessexTimes unless it is historic and merely a non-judgemental report.

But now I can't hold back.

Our Prime-Minister (Ex-Prime Minister?) has insulted our once proud nation. He has insulted and done an injustice to those who not only fought on the beaches of Normandy but in the many other theatres of war. They risked everything and did it with pride.

My grandfather fought in the Royal Navy in two world wars, being a stoker for example on the Arc Royal. My father spent his 21st birthday in Northern France as a Sapper on a motorbike fighting until he too was evacuated from the beaches of Dunkirk.

We have a pm who has no sense of duty, who has insulted these men and women and our entire nation by deciding to leave the most importantmemorial ceremony in modern times to the Canadians, Americans, French (even the German Chancellor was there) for the sake of promoting his own political career via a TV interview.

Of course we must be grateful to our allies, must appreciate that their troops in many cases gave the ultimate sacrifice for peace and freedom and for our island nation.

Never will Rishi Sunak get a single vote from me. Nor will I support him in any way.

I have a feeling that he has not grown up with the knowledge and most important the patriotism that we who grew up after WW2 have known all our lives.

He obviously doesn't have the right feelings, the right esprit de corps.

I am disgusted
