| Bournemouth have now three wins from four games and were well in-form against a Palace team that struggled even though they were athome at Selhurst Park. Goals either side of half-time were enough for in-form AFC Bournemouth to make it three wins from four against a struggling Crystal Palace side, whose injury list worsened at Selhurst Park. How the match unfolded Inside the first five minutes Jordan Ayew called Neto into action with a firm near-post shot that was tipped behind. And it was the home side that had the better start. But Bournemouth soon responded, Justin Kluivert unable to sort his feet out but the ball coming back out to Antoine Semenyo whose first-time shot forced Palace keeper Sam Johnstone to a strong low reaction save. In the 25th minute the breakthrough was made. Ryan Christie whipped in a good corner that was flicked on by summer signing Luis Sinisterra and met at the back post by Marcos Senesi, who headed home from close range for the his first of the season. Palace came close to an instant response as Ayew skipped round a challenge before getting off a low shot that Neto could only parry, but Odsonne Edouard was unable to latch on to the loose ball. In the 29th minute Tyrick Mitchell had to leave the field injured and was replaced by the experienced Nathaniel Clynet. Palace started the second half with, Lerma bursting up the pitch and crashing a thunderous strike against the post as the hosts tried desparately for an equaliser. With the match entering the second of five additional minutes any hope of a Palace comeback was ended when Bournemouth found a second. Substitute Kieffer Moore set away Marcus Tavernier, who rounded Johnstone before laying a pass back to Philip Billing, whose first-time cross was met by Moore at the back post to secure all three points for the Cherries. Crystal Palace drop to 14th in the Premier League table with 16 points and are now only ahead of Bournemouth on goal difference who have risen up to 15th and are at present nicely clear of the relegation zone. |
