Putin Risks Arrest
Vladimir Putin faces arrest if he travels abroad based on a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine. The Kremlin has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the G20 summit in India next month. Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin Spokesman, stated that travel is currently not on the President's agenda because he is concentrating on the special military operation, which is what the Kremlin calls Russia’s war against Ukraine. However what is probably keeping him at home is another issue. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Putin accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine, something the Kremlin and Putin strongly denies.President Putin risks arrest when travelling abroad but Spokesman Peskov did not mention the warrant in his comments.Last year Putin did not fly to Indonesia for the summit of the group’s summit. Neither did he attend the BRICS summit in South Africa this week but took part using a video link.India was hoping to persuade members to find amicable solutions to geopolitical issues at the September G20 Summit said the negotiator Amitabh Kant in response to a question on the Russia-Ukraine war.According to Kant the G20 wants growth but the war has created “a huge implication in terms of economics” by bringing challenges regarding food, fuel and fertiliser. He added: “The war is not our creation, Our challenge is to put developmental issues right in the forefront.”-/-London 25.
