Issue November-26

Interest in working in the UK is on the increase and particularly from qualified people who are non-EU nationals.

The job agency "Indeed" has released figures which show that the interest in getting a job in the UK has increased since the UK left the EU and introduced a points system for settlement eligibility. Important factors in gaining points are bspeaking English and already having a job offer.

Being highhly qualified, such as having a PhD or applying for a high paid job will gain candidates points but also applying in a sector where there is a shortage of workers.

Indeed also published that 5% of applications were now coming from outside the UK an increase over the pre covid value of only 3%.

The government maintains a list of industries where there is a shortage of labour and occupations such as brick-layer or plasterer are among them. Also Roofers, tilers, carpenters and joiners have been added to this list

Again, according to "Indeed" interest from inside the EU has remained unchanged, so at least there was no loss.
